The City and the Myth
The Fall of Jericho
Now Jericho was securely shut up before the Israelites; no one went out, and no one came in. Then, the Lord said to Joshua: «See, I have given Jericho into your hands, along with its king. On the seventh day, you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. When the rams’ horn sounds a long blast, as soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall raise a mighty war cry. Then the city walls will collapse, and the people will charge straight in».
